ALS CLINIC ADVOCACY GROUP
Sid, along with a few other ALS patients and their loved ones have formed the ALS Clinic Advocacy Group (ALS CAG) with the goal of supporting the Sunnybrook ALS/Neuromuscular Clinic to enable it to further develop its capacity for research and treatment.
The ALS CAG’s goals are:
1. To raise funds for the support of research in the Sunnybrook ALS/Neuromuscular Clinic.
2. To advocate for services to meet the needs of patients with ALS in the Clinic, home and community.
3. To increase the visibility of the Sunnybrook ALS/Neuromuscular Clinic in our community.
About the ALS/Neuromuscular Clinic
The Sunnybrook ALS/Neuomuscular Clinic is the largest clinic of its kind in Canada, boasting an international reputation of excellence in patient care and research, and attracting top clinicians and researchers in the field. The Clinic services the entire GTA and accommodates referrals from across the globe.
ALS is the most common cause of neurological death. Between 1,500 to 3,000 Canadians are afflicted with ALS each year, and two to three Canadians die from this debiliatating disease each day. ALS is regarded as a “prototypic” neurodegenerative disease. Lessons learned from the pathophysiology and treatment of ALS will have immediate and direct ramifications for a host of other neurodegenerative disorders that share abnormal protein mishandling, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
All monies raised by the Valo Fund go towards funding Sunnybrook's ALS/Neuromuscular Clinic team in the fight against ALS.
Help save thousand of lives in your community and throughout Canada.
